History: Row for Autism was started in 2012 to raise money for our adaptive program and the autism advocacy organization, Autism Speaks. In 2014, our Third Annual Row for Autism drew 18 clubs from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Over a dozen local area schools have already signed up for the event. Twenty-five percent of all money raised will be donated to Autism Speaks of LI, with the remainder going towards the purchase of adaptive rowing equipment, which allows a disabled teenager to be paired with a typical peer mentor.
Residents can donate in person at the event, or online at PortRowing.com. Last year, over $30,000 was raised.
